Minor in Classical Studies
Students majoring in other fields who have an interest in Classics may
still choose to pursue an intensive study of the classical language and
cultures. Like the Classics major, the Classics minor is ideal for the student
with interdisciplinary interests who wish to explore a broad range of subjects.
The minor is very flexible, allowing
the student to choose his/her area of focus within the upper-division course
offerings. This means that the minor serves well both a student interested
in taking upper-division language and literature courses with readings in
Latin and/or Greek as well as a student who wishes to study the classical
world through readings in English translation. In addition, those who choose
the latter course enrich their understanding of the ancient world with a
year-long study of either Ancient Greek or Latin.
