Minor Regulations

Pass/No Pass Grading Option
All courses to be applied to the minor must be completed on a letter-grade basis. This includes both courses offered in Classics and those offered by other departments and applied to the minor. However, up to five upper-division units may be completed on the P/NP basis.

Substitutions
Substitutions and waivers are subject to approval by the chair of the department or by the undergraduate advisor.

Listing on Diploma and Transcript
The minor is listed on your diploma and will be posted on your official transcript at the time of graduation, provided the following conditions also are met:

The sponsoring department reports your completion of the minor prior to the posting of your degree.

You have completed at least 18 upper-division quarter units pertinent to this minor. (Waivers cannot reduce the requirement below this number.)

Your UC grade-point average in pertinent upper-division courses is 2.0 or higher.

No more than 5 upper-division units overlap between this minor and the upper-division portion of your major(s) or other minor(s). If overlap is greater with your major(s), your completion of the minor will not be formally recognized; if overlap with other minor(s) is greater, only the first minor reported will be noted on your transcript.

You have completed at least 12 of the upper-division units for the minor while in residence at UCSB.

No reference will be made to the minor on any progress checks or degree clearance forms.
