“The Workings of a Mycenaean State”

Professor Cynthia Shelmerdine
University of Texas, Austin
Dr. Shelmerdine is the Robert M. Armstrong Centennial Professor of Classics at the University of Texas at Austin, and Acting Chair of the Classics Department. Her main research interests are in Aegean Bronze Age archaeology, and Mycenaean Greek language, history and society. She was educated at Bryn Mawr College, Cambridge University and Harvard University (Ph.D. in Classical Philology, 1977). In the 1990s she was a co-director of the Pylos Regional Archaeological Project, and is currently working with the Iklaina Archaeological Project as ceramic and historical expert. She is editor of the forthcoming Cambridge Companion to the Aegean Bronze Age and author of some thirty publications on Mycenaean culture. >>More
