Prizes and Awards
The Keith Aldrich Memorial Awards are given each year by the department
to an undergraduate major in classics and to a graduate student in classics,
in recognition of outstanding academic achievement.
Nicholas and Lena Dumas Prize
in Greek Mythology
Each year, the Nicholas and Lena Dumas Prize is awarded to the
best papers on Greek Mythology written for Classics 40, Greek Mythology.
There is normally a cash prize for the essays which receive the award.
Nicholas and Lena Dumas Prize
in the History and Culture of the Greek People
Each year, the Dumas Award in the History and Culture of the Greek
People is awarded for the best undergraduate paper on a topic in Greek History
and Culture from the age of the polis to the early development of the Byzantine
empire. The award is jointly announced in the Department of Art History, Classics,
History, Philosophy, and Religious Studies.
