UCSB Classics Club and Honor Society
UCSB Classics Club
Students with an interest in the Classics can meet and share their
interests through the UCSB Classics Club. The Classics Club is a student organization
which meets several times each quarter and organizes events such as field
trips to the Getty Center and other museums, informational meetings about
applying to graduate school, faculty presentations about their current research,
movies and social events, and a Roman Banquet each Spring.
Eta Sigma Phi
UCSB hosts the Zeta Phi chapter of Eta Sigma Phi, the national Classics
Honor Society. The campus chapter is a registered student organization,
and shares many events with the Classics Club. In addition, initiates are
eligible to compete in the Greek and Latin translation competition offered
each year, may be eligible for Eta Sigma Phi Summer Scholarships to Greece
and Italy, and receive copies of the national newsletter. New members are
initiated into the Honor Society each spring.
One faculty member serves as advisor to the Classics Club. For information,
meeting times or the name of the Faculty Advisor, please contact the Undergraduate
Staff Advisor in the front office of the Classics Department, (805) 893-3556.
