About:
I received my BA from Oberlin College in Classics and Creative Writing in 2020, after rekindling my fascination with Classics through Greek. As a Mellon Mays Undergraduate Research Fellow, I spent two years researching and writing about women’s usage of magic in Classical Athens, both within literary sources and daily life, seeking to understand the difference between how women were portrayed performing magic and how they actually used it and to what ends. My interests continue to lie with magic, especially with regards to how it can give voices to the typically voiceless groups of women and enslaved people. I am looking forward to my time with the community of students and faculty, and to developing my research and teaching skills.
